CB Package Builder - Problem with links to individual packages

2 days 6 hours ago #341982 by jamesmoeller
I'm using CB Package Builder to organize and present downloadable packages.
Ultimately what I'm doing is very similar to the "Downloads" main menu item on the Joomlapolis site.

Below is the link to my downloads.
www.alphadataiq.com/index.php/adiq-downloads
If you click through on the title of any individual package, with the exception of the first package, you'll see that the URL and breadcrumbs are wrong.
The URL and breadcrumbs do not correspond to the selected package.
It seems to be using the information (menu item title and menu item alias) from the first downloadable package listed and not the selected package.
When displaying an individual package like this, where / how is it getting the information (I'm assuming its menu item title and alias) for the selected package?

Thanks,
Jim

You've a Joomla menu item going to a single package and it's using that menu item as its menu for all packages. That's the reason it's doing that. So you either need to remove that menu item and only have a menu item to the generic CB package builder page or the more ideal approach is have a menu item for each package so you can properly define each of their menu alias and SEO (this is what we have done).

Yes, that's what I though too.
I've already created separate menu items for each package item.
However, from the "Downloads" display via the module included in an article, when a user clicks on an individual package, the URL and breadcrumbs still reflect that initial menu item, and not the new separate menu item for each package.
So, it seems that somewhere the display of the individual package is not using the newly created separate menu item, but is instead still using the residual link to the one menu item initially setup.
What would be causing the individual package displays to not pickup the newly created menu items?

Can you provide a screenshot of the menu parameters that it's linking all packages to? It certainly shouldn't be doing that.

With that said you can override the package URL when editing a package under the Info tab so you can force it to link wherever you like (e.g. ?Itemid=MENU_ID I believe should force a specific Joomla menu item).

Attached is a screenshot of the "Details" tab of the menu item to which all packages are linking.

Try unpublishing that menu item and seeing if your packages now all link properly to their specific menu items.
