My first module: Display user's URL was created by mediaguru
Hey folks I've taken the plunge. I'm learning php, mysql etc...

I want to work my way up to writing CB plugs but Nant suggested I start by learning how to make a Joomla Module. So I've started by writing my own tiny and very simple module related to the CUSTOM URL option.

This module displays your user URL and links it as seen in this pic:

Here is the related forum thread for the custom url:
www.joomlapolis.com/component/option,com_joomlaboard/Itemid,38/func,view/id,14374/catid,20/limit,6/limitstart,0/

I'd eventually like to add controls in the backend for diplay and text preferences...

I'd like to make a plug that displays the user's URL in his profile eventually. shouldn't be too hard.

Check out my Joomla/CB projects:

* LIKE thumbs up system for "liking" content items
* Karma - CB user rating system
* Golf Score Tracker
* Jitter - status update system. "What's on your mind?"
* CB Author Plug - Shows CB author link and avatar in content items. J1.5 compatible and very customizable!

Found on my web site or in the Joomlapolis Directory !

Hey, I have an idea for you so the "there are no items to display can disappear :

- you create one content item (PUBLIC ACCESS + FRONTPAGE) in which you put the unregistred modules you wish to have (mosmodule bot). Position : 2

- you create one content item (REGISTERED ACCESS + FRONTPAGE) in which you put the registred modules you wish to have (mosmodule bot). Position : 1

Then you configure your homepage with only one content item published and *

that's it !

Wouldn't it be easier to just publish the module as "registered" and that way it won't show for a guest and have nothing to display?

Or I suppose the module could say "register to get your own URL" or something like that.

Actually I was talking about the message on you homepage when you are not registered. the one generated by mainbody when you have nothing published.
