New member admin email AND backend tabs... was created by mtxrooster
I'm fielding two questions here, so when replying please specify with #1 and/or#2 at the start so we can all track which part you're responding to :)

#1: First, let me say I believe both #1 and #2 are related. I'm listing them separately just in case, for better full rounded disclosure of all possibly related circumstances. The Problem: On the admin-side (back-end) when I go to the CB/User Management and select a user, Under the Contact Info tab, the first 4 boxes are empty. (first name, last name, email, and username), the last two (password and verify pw, of course are always empty!). As a result, I cannot edit any other fields in other tabs, because it keeps erroring saying it needs those four fields to have data (of course).

I have run through the tools, multiple times running each one. (except the load sample data, rofl). All tests pass. About the only 'custom' non-stock plugin I've added is the recaptcha verification. This issue has been going on since at least 1.2.x, I AM running 1.3.1 currently. It DID work at either 1.1 or base 1.2, been too long to remember. Umm, under the tools, the name sync says to be sure to set the "name Type" to the, well I quote:

his will synchronize the Joomla/Mambo User table with the Joomla/Mambo Community Builder User Table.
Please make sure before synchronizing that the user name type (first/lastname mode choice) is set correctly in Components / Community Builder / Configuration / General, so that the user-synchronization imports the names in the appropriate format.

There is no "name type", there is name style and name format. I have randomly tried switching them around and re-syncing, all to no avail. Love how it says to set it to the correct type, as if I have any idea what that would be, for the record, rofl..

#2: Problem: When a new user creates an account, an email is sent to the administrator. I get that email, but the fields are not filled out. In other words, my received email looks like this:

A new user has registered at <mysite>.
This email contains their details

Name -
E-mail -
Username -

Now I did a search earlier, and found a post talking about editing a default-language file (was to add custom info in the admin message). I looked up that file, and everything looked right. So now that I'm fairly sure there is nothing "file-wise" incorrect (for the record, I NEVER edited/modified ANY files, just looked to verify), I'm fairly certain this is directly tied to #1. I wanted to mention this just in case they are NOT related. In addition, I too face the problem others are experiencing. A new user who receives the the verification email, when they click on the link, they get an error about not being allowed to view the page. When I go back to the main page, and log in, it DOES work (IE it does verify them), and everything is fine. Would like to fix that so that new members don't get lost/confused..

Other than duping the server locally to test/mess with, I'm not really sure how to proceed and what to do/try, hoping ya'll have some suggestions. I mean, it's one thing when ya get physical errors, I'd have something to go from, somewhere to start. But I don't know what to do about this. Thanks in advance for taking the time to read, and hopefully offer some help, it's appreciated! :)

Anyone have any ideas on this at all? A starting point, some ideas to try, something? :(

A good starting point is our Help Us Help You FAQ article - please post back findings / results.

Okay, doing as you asked, though implied by my exhaustive efforts that I've covered them, I will reply to each line in case I missed something:
(edit: There were a couple things I hadn't tried, but the end result didn't change)
Was running 1.3.1 when I posted, NOW running 1.4, made no difference, fwiw.
Read faq (awhile ago)
searched the forums
read through anything similar, which I didn't find much of, more related to other issues I had earlier..

1. CB login module IS publiashed and the stock Joomla mod_login is disabled
2. CB's registration independent of Joomla's.. Got me on that one, when the user clicks on the cb_login boxes registration button, it brings up the CB registration, so yeah, I'm pretty sure it is.. It was installed per the guide/docs, and before upgrades awhile back everything worked fine.
3. PHP Version 5.2.14, so yeah, well within safe limits..

4. CB and Joomla are up to date.
5. Yes, default is enabled (in fact, all plugins are enabled cept geocoder)
6. Yup, using the default, in fact..
7. disabled all but the core etc, that it wouldn't let me disable.. no change.
8. same effect as 7, no change.
9. same effect as 7, no change
10. yes, as indicated in my 1st post.
11. fresh install as in brand new, or just new 'install files'? Like, set up a new installation but yse the existing sql data? Or like, create an entire new instance?
12. memory limit isi fine, far as I know.. Installed the 1.4 (and all other) updates just fine.
13. like memory, far as I know.. what is deemed as 'high enough'?
14. All green.
15. well, no, but yes, sort of (if you're driving at have you recently reinstalled to ensure no corrupt files) I did just install 1.4.0 today, made no change.
16. I don't use cache (too many live/current) needed things on my main page, but I flushed it nonetheless..
17. yup, also used various PC's and various browsers..
18. host not caching.
19. sef not in use.

1. 5.2.14
2. 1.4.0
3. 1.5.22
4. See original post up top ;)
5. None and n/a (doesn't apply to the mails being sent to me)
6. no host errors being logged (it's enabled, just not showing anything out of the ordinary. Even asked techs' to take a peek, since they offer Joomla sites and support, though mine was not installed through them, they too were unable to locate the oddity).
7. None.
8. No sef.
9. configuration.php file is fine
10. It is an upgrade. stated with 1.0, went to 1.1, at 1.2.x the problem appeared, I posted briefly on it, never found a solution (also had the always displays page 1 on users no matter what page you click on, back at that time, found a solution to that). With the advent of 1.3.x, I decided to post and try again to solve this, and well now here we are rapidly on 1.4, which is where I am now.
11. Always have run Joomla 1.5, followed religiously with the security updates. Considering jumping eventually to 1.6 but want to lick this issue and leave it behind before I do (will never know how when every popular CMS that existed with Joomla was born why they chose NOT to include security levels/access levels, whatever you want to call it)..
12. All. Firefox 3x, IE 8.x, Chrome, Android's brower, iPad's browser, iPaq's browser and minimo...

Well, I cannot replicate the behavior on my test sites.

I am willing to bet that you cannot also on a clean Joomla 1.5.22 / CB 1.3.1-CB 1.4 installation.

I would say both issues are related but are not cause by CB - something else in your environment is causing this.

If you turn on debug in Joomla do you get any messages when trying to create a new user from backend?
