Installization using manual method was created by robert263
CB directions:
If you want (for whatever reason) you may manually unzip the com_comprofiler.zip file and upload via FTP the resulting comprofiler folder (along with all its contents and structure) to your website folder: {websitestructure}/administrator/components/com_installer/component and then make sure that the Install directory: field contains {websitestructure}/administrator/components/com_installer/component/comprofiler before you click on the Install button.

1. FTP uploaded all com_comprofiler.zip to /administrator/components/com_installer/component directory...
2. make sure that the Install directory: field contains {websitestructure}/administrator/components/com_installer/component/comprofiler created a comprofiler folder as requested...
3. What install button? My FTP client doesn't have the install button.

Need some help...

Select this folder from your Joomla extensions Installer.

Nick,
thanks for your help. But I gotta tell you, I have no clue on what to do. I can get into my server and joomla administrator but have no understanding on the steps that need to be followed. Can you give some details so that a new to Joomla can understand.

Thanks,
Robert

Ok, lets backup - why can't you just follow the install guide and install the zip packages?

Nick,
I get "There was an error uploading this file to the server." The next instructions is to "Check that your PHP 'upload_max_filesize' parameter (in your php,ini) is
set to something greater than 2M. If not try increasing and reinstalling."
I don't have a php,ini file on my server file structure.
I found this on the forum 3 weeks ago:
"After checking the joomla forums and putting some pieces together, i finally got this same problem resolved. First and foremost, your hosting company (all) will probably not know what you are talking about.
2. Find out exactly where your php.ini file is. To do this, open your Joomla admin > Help > System Info > PHP Information.
3. Look for 'Loaded Configuration File' - This gives you the exact path/location of your php.ini file.
4. Edit your .ini file and add these lines:
upload_max_filesize = 100M
post_max_size = 150M
max_execution_time = 500
max_input_time = 500
Your 'limits' may not have to be that high, but heck, after spending so many hours trying to find the solution, i didn't want to take any chances.
That's it! Worked for me! Hope it helps."

My server has
.html
..php_uploads (no files)

I also use webmatrix by Microsoft and was able to install CB after changing the php.ini file (see attached). Here is six lines from that file.
; Temporary directory for HTTP uploaded files (will use system default if not
; specified).
;upload_tmp_dir =

; Maximum allowed size for uploaded files.
upload_max_filesize = 16M

Who or how does this php file get created?

Robert

ok - next question - is your server hosted somewhere? Can you contact hosting helpdesk?

The thing is that more and more good extensions are just getting too big (example Kunena) and you will run into problems further down the road, so its good to get your upload parameter properly set.
