Groups for CB and Kunena? was created by StefanS
Hi all,

I just installed CB 1.7 (and Kunena 1.7) on my Joomla 1.5.23 website 'cause I thought this would solve me a problem. But I still can't find the solution...

What I want to do:
I want to add some groups (for the members of my seminars) i.e. "Members of Seminar XY" and add the users who hav attended this seminar to that group.
NowI'd like to have some pages with content only the members of this group can access, as well as a forum category, where only these users have access to.
This way I want to distinct the attendents of defferent seminars form each other and from the 'standard' user.

What am I doing wrong?
Do I need another component orplugin?

Thanks for replying!

Stefan

You didn't state what issue you are having to do this. I've set up something similar in my website (using Joomla 1.7 though) and I have no issues.

CB Groupjive (available for Advanced or Professional members) allows you to create frontend user groups.

NowI'd like to have some pages with content only the members of this group can access, as well as a forum category, where only these users have access to.

CBSubs can protect specific Joomla content and make it available to subscribers only.

You might be able to do the same with Joomla 1.7 ACL groups but that would be a challenge (at least for me).

I have something very similar set up with ACL, it's set up on the backend of joomla.
But I don't see what this has to do with CB?

There is currently no plugin that will set a group for a user, based on a CB field, though Sven Schultschik has something very similar to this based on email address on his site.

How did you 'set this up with ACL'?
As far as I understand, Joomla! 1.5 doesn't know ACLs for users.

How do you restrict Content (Articels) and Kunena categories for specifc users?

I only know how to set it up in 1.7. Not sure about 1.5.
