[SOLVED] Coming from AEC & JUGA was created by gavjof
Hi all.

A quick pre-sales question.

I've a site that is currently using AEC, JUGA and DOCMAN. After weeks of testing, trial and error, messages to and from support and many hours watching the instructional videos we're deciding to dump it all and give CBSubs a try.

Here is the model for the site

We need 2 types of member plans (Silver and Gold).
Silver is free and lasts a lifetime.
Gold is subscription based and payment gateway is to be PayPal. This should be a recurring payment (monthly).
After a Gold plan expires the member should fallback onto the silver plan.
Access is restricted to certain DocMan categories and Joomla articles.

Is this possible using CBSubs
and can I remove JUGA if CBSubs restricts content

Thanks for your time

Gavin

Yes, it sounds like CBSubs can fully support your use case (and much more) without need for extra ACL type extensions.

You would need to plan a migration strategy if you currently have auto-recurring payment plans set.

Thanks for the reply. We've already took the plunge. Fortunately there is only 1 subscriber to migrate with with the site being a new build.

Question. I'm a good way through the manual but is there a quick start guide anywhere? It's like information overload :silly:

Glad you decided to go CBSubs - you will find that it is extremely powerful and flexible.

Yes we need a quickstart guide - on my todo list.

I guess the minimum needed to start would be:

- install and publish CBSubs main plugin (cbplug_CBSubs_MAIN_111-E.tgz) using CB Plugin Manager.
- if you intend to protect Joomla content (articles, etc), then you would need to install and publish the bot_subs_111-E.zip as a Joomla plugin
- since you have DOCman integration needs as you mentioned earlier you would need to install and publish the cbplug_int_cbsubsdocman-E.zip package as a CB Plugin
- a good addition would be to install and configure the mod_cb_adminnav-E.zip as a Joomla admin module (see detailed manual for config instructions). This way you have a nice backend menu for both CB and CBSubs to speed-up backend navigation.
- You need to configure your CBSubs Settings area (copy paste your license code from your profile on Joomlapolis)

CBSubs is now live.

Next you would need to configure your payment gateway (I guess setting up a dummy gateway in the beginning to start testing is ok - but later you will need to make a paypal gateway - described in detail in manual).

Then you would create your 2 (?) CBSubs plans from Plan area backend. Focus on presentation and pricing tabs initially and look at integration tab to see docman sub-tab.

Wow, thanks for the detailed follow-up.

I installed 1.1.0 yesterday and can already see and update. Blimey.

I do have one question. I get the following notice under:
CBSubs > Settings >Integrations > Content/Extensions
[code:1]The needed mambot/plugin 'cbpaidsubsbot' is not installed.[/code:1]

I have installed this and can verify it is published.
Under the Extension Manager I notice it says:

(runs 1.5 native too, ignore warning)

Should I ignore the other warning?

One of the reasons we have issued CBSubs 1.1.1.

Just download latest package and install over existing environment - nothing will be lost and you can continue your setup.
