Quick question about CB-lists and Item ID

In 1.7.1 on Joomla 1.7.4

When linking to a cb list from the main menu there is no option to select a particular list #..only lists in general.

So you have to create an external url and insert the item ID on your own...no big deal.

but today I am letting one of our assistants help me with menu items and they really have zero knowledge of this procedure.

Has this been addressed yet in the latest release? I just need to know before I give the tutorial so we dont have to go back and change it in the future.

It's fixed for CB 2.0 release, but not for CB 1.8 as we've to do a lot of additions to add support for J1.6+ menu usage.

cool thanks, I think doing it the old school way of adding an external link and setting it as...

example:
index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=userslist&listid=48&Itemid=250

This would probably produce near the same thing as the internal menu function anyways...right?

It may create a few minor issues with multiple pages or links feeding in and it holding the ItemID properly but I imagine it will be manageable.

Well if you have SEF enabled Joomla tends to strip Itemid off external menu links.

What I tend to do is create the Internal menu link as normally then go into _menu table and manually edit the URL to append the listid or whatever parameters needed.

Thanks for the tip...yeah I forgot about it dropping the Itemid for SEF, I thought I could use short urls since each menu link to the list is an actual menu item.

with an alias of: georgia-stores

In a perfect world I would expect it to produce www.domain.com/georgia-stores


but with Joomlas SEF ON and rewrite turned OFF...I get this on the lists.
www.domain.com/index.php/component/comprofiler/userslist/Georgia?Itemid=250

and regular SEF urls to an uncategoriezed article looks like this:
www.domain.com/index.php/retail-stores

Im going to try the mod inside the DB next.

when creating the menu item, should it be created as an external link then edited in the DB

or as a cb-list link....?

or does it matter?
