Whats the difference between the 3 different types, (My Rating, Your Rating, PB Rating)?
My rating is a rating you give your self. Your rating is a rating others rate you. ProfileBook rating is your rating that others give you when posting on the ProfileBook tab.
1. Create a profile rating on the users profile to be rated by other users.
For this you'd use a Your Rating field.
2. Have the average rate of that user also displayed on their profile as a separate field.
As stars or as an integer? You can re-output it elsewhere using substitutions in a delimiter field. The standard [FIELDNAME] will give you the average as an integer.
3. And then be able to sort a user list based on the highest rated users.
The average rating of a user is stored to their database row in _comprofiler so should be just a matter of selecting your rating field in the Sort By parameter when editing your userlist.
When I put the field on the profile, it shows, and I can click the stars, but when I go back to that same profile, its reset. And when I try to create a list sorted by that field it wont work. Is my vote even being registered? Seems that the clicks on the stars are just visual and nothing is being submitted.
What version of the rating field are you using? Joomla version? CB version?
