Joomla articles within the Community builder tabs

Joomla articles within the Community builder tabs was created by matt@harrington.co.nz
Hello,

I am new at Community Builder. I am trying to publish a Joomla article for all the CB users to see in their profile page. I have found the CB articles add-on but this just seems to allow the user to view their own articles. I would like a public article published that all users can see.

Thanks and regards,

Matt.

We've no such thing. CB Articles and the built in Content Author both only show the articles the user has created. I suggest using a Delimiter field to either add a URL to the article or add the articles contents directly to it as this will display on all users profiles.

I am trying to get a Joomla CMS Article link Displayed on the 'right' area of the CB Users Profile page, so that every Member of the Community Builder can access a single Joomla CMS Article from their main profile page.

I am replying to this as you kindly posted some information here on creating a Field Delimiter to get this done, however, I am in need of a more detailed instructions and help to accomplish this as I am a newbie.

I am using CB 1.9 with Joomla 2.5.9 and creating an Alumni College Members only website for a college / foundation. Basically the college would like to be able to post Latest News articles for the Public Site, and then in a seperate category post Alumni News Articles there, and thats where we can either list the Articles on the CB Users profile page in the 'right' area of the CB users profile Section.

I am guessing that the process would be to create either a Web Address field or a Field Delimeter field, with the link to the Joomla Article or Joomla Article Category, and then, add that Field as a Tab, then make the tab be located in the 'right' side of the CB Users Profile. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

I see, if you're wanting to keep an active list of latest articles I suggest using the Lastest News module included with Joomla and simply assign it to your CB profile menu link so it'll display on every profile and also by dynamic so you don't have to keep editing it each time you add an article.

Thanks Kyle,

That is useful. Can you tell me what type of tab is used when I log into the joomlapolis site?

I have a bunch of tabs on my profile page, one of which is membership. The membership tab appears to be an article specific to me. That is similar to what I am after. I can make a link as you suggested however on thinking about it more I would like a tab for a subset of users with something like or a joomla article embeded in it.

Cheers, Matt.

To place Joomla CMS Articles or Links to Joomla CMS Articles on the CB Profile page. First

Create a TAB, in my case I needed a News Item that wasn't using the Joomla Latest News module but was instead standard Joomla CMS Articles to be on the right column of the CB User Profiles page in my template.

Tab Name 'News', placed in the 'right' position.

Then Create a Fields Delimeter field type, select the TAB I just created as its position / place holder, field name, and Titled News. Entered in the HTML area editor, being sure to use the editor's insert/links item to link to existing News Articles that are in Joomla, and place news headlines and information here. In this case the CB Profile area is quite small in my template, so Simple headlines from the main Joomla CMS Article, with corresponding links to the entire Joomla Category and links here.

Required: No
Show in Profiles - Yes 1 Line
Display field title in profile - in my case No, but could be optional.
User Read Only = Yes
Show at Registration = No
Published = Yes
Size = 20

Now I have links to Joomla CMS Articles in the CB Users Profile page, and will copy and paste small headlines into this field as needed for new updates.
