Mailer is sending emails w/o 'process' initiation

11 years 5 months ago #227679 by mothersofboys
Hi

This has happened 2x for me now.

This is on a J 1.5.26 site, CB 1.8, with Mailer installed {I know, it needs to be updated}

I have built and edited Mailer A. Let's say this is a mailer that alerts CB Subs members that their membership has expired and they need to log in and renew membership.

I then go to Mailer > Automation Settings

and choose the "Url of cron task to process mailers rules:" option to generate the email list. I then go to the Mailer > Message Cue to review list of emails.

I have NOT clicked on Mailer > Automation Settings > "Url of cron task to process mailqueue:"

because I understand that this actually initiates the email send, and at this point, I am testing and revising...not ready to send the email reminders just yet.

I have not clicked the "send mails" button in the Mailer > Message Cue page.

But yet, 2x now, something in this process IS sending the email.

It used to NOT do this. Used to - the emails would not send until I checked the list in Message Cue and clicked "send mails" button and/or used the "Url of cron task to process mailqueue:" on Automation Settings.

What could be going on here?

Thanks
LrG

which "exact url" are you asking me to look for? I have downloaded my raw access log but i'm afraid it's written over each night and this particular log wont have Wendnesday's info

do you mean this URL which is the "URL of cron task to process mailer rules" :
[REMOVED]

[Mod Edit]: URL exposes your key, removed for security sake.

Thanks for the browser info. Makes it even more interesting actually to know the IP address that accessed that URL since you didn't.

You should search for the exact URL that is displayed in the automation window of CBSubs's auto-mailer for the cron job. Of course remove the http:// and domain name so that it matches the access.log entries. Your hoster certainly has previous day logs (usually access.log.1 and days before access.log.N.gz files with rotating logs).
