CB Connect Facebook Menu items disappeared

The ability to invite Facebook friends to the Community Builder community from the menu items in a user's profile has disappeared. In the plugin management of CB Connect, the option under Facebook and Menu is to display disconnect from Facebook as well as Invite is set to enable, so it should be working, but I am having no luck.

You need to be logged in with Facebook. It does not work unless you have an active Facebook session on the site as it requires the access token.

Ok, now that I got that fixed, the next issue I see is that I get an error message instead of allowing me to invite from Facebook.

Any ideas of what I did wrong?

Looks like you changed the Link parameter and it's not a valid URL. Navigate to CB Connect > Config > Facebook > Invite and ensure Link is a valid URL or leave it blank for it to build automatically.

Alas, no luck. I have done as you have said to remove the link, and yet I still get the error message.

Any other ideas?

When did you create your Facebook Application? If recently it could be due to the following.

forge.joomlapolis.com/issues/4081

Basically on July 10th Facebook will be making breaking changes to their API and this could be breaking the invite feature if you created your Application recently as it'd already have force enabled the breaking changes. Will need to migrate my Application and test again to see if this is the case. Edit your Application at Facebook and click the "Advanced" menu item on the left then under "Migrations" let me know what is set as "Enabled".

It seams others have also reported this issue to Facebook in the below Facebook bug ticket, but it says they fixed it. Seams to be an issue on Facebooks end.

Please note Facebook will not work on localhost properly. Your site needs to be accessible to the internet. So ensure you're testing on a live domain.
