[SOLVED] Using CB Triggers or Auto Actions to force users to complete their profile

Hi,

I have installed CB Progress Field, so that users are re-directed to the Profile edit page if they haven't completed all fields (besides the basic ones asked at registration).

The problem is that users can navigate away from this page without completing their profile. And it is critical that this doesn't happen in our site.

I found this video tutorial from Joomlapolis showing how to focr users to complete their profile using CB Triggers and CB Progress Field:

However, I simply cannot find CB Triggers. I went through every single plugin in the Developers downloads area and it is not there.

Can you please let me know where I can find it?

No.

Please add the ability to force a user to complete his /her profile to the wishlist of new features.

There is no way to do this properly. It would require site wide hijacking which completely messes up navigation/routing and is the reason CB Triggers and this feature were discontinued. We've no plans to implement it now or in the future.

You're welcome to develop something like this your self though. It requires a Joomla system plugin to act directly after the router before the renderer that checks for incomplete fields then redirects, but there are a lot of situations where this will completely mess up the users experience and lock them out of the site due to infinite access loops.

Understood, thank you for explaining the complexities of this.

As a last attempt, would it be possible to hide one menu item if the user's profile is not 100% complete? (In this way, users with an incomplete profile would not be able to browse other users profiles until their is fully complete)

ps. We cannot ask for all the details at the time of user registration, since it would simply put them off.

No, CB Auto Actions can't stop access to URLs or Joomla menu links. To do anything of the sort requires a Joomla system plugin that acts on the router. I suppose your best option is to try and condition the CB Progress Field in a Redirect after on the after login trigger and redirect them to profile edit. This way they'll be sent to profile edit with every login if CB Progress Field is not equal to 100 ([FIELD_NAME] should give the raw progress value).
