Fields in the registration are too long

The fields on my registration page are too long. They appear fine on the contact information tab. Only during registration and edit they do not display correctly. Each field should not exceed 30 char. When I edit the member profile, the text fields, CB query fields and most of the other fields expand, leaping over on to the right side of the sheet. Please see enclosed screen capture.

I have changed to several type of templates, beez3, artisteer.., and they all do the same thing. I have expended considered amount on the CB configuration tabs, searched the forums, Google it using different terms, looking for the information on this specific problem before I post this. What I am doing wrong?

Your Joomla template is styling the inputs. Switch to default Joomla template and they'll probably look perfectly fine. If they don't work fine on Joomlas default template then you've a 3rd party extension installed that's loading CSS that is altering the inputs. Right click the inputs and click Inspect Element in Chrome or Firefox with Firebug then inspect the CSS to the right in the developer console to see what is styling them.

I have basin Joomla 3.2 installation, CB and Groupjive, and Artisteer templates (which I uninstalled). I have chosen the Beez3 template that came with Joomla 3.x (the issue is still there), then I have selected the Protostar template, which is the last one left and there is still an issue with the fields. Please see the enclosed file. I will follow your second recommendation but I am afraid that will not know what I am looking for. This installation is composed of the aforementioned extension. It is pretty basic.

Protostar adds a 100% width to all inputs unless they use a Bootstrap class to reduce their sizes. Use CB Bootstrap template for CB and it should look perfectly fine. Alternative is to inspect again, find the 100% width being applied, and removeit.

I went through the code using Firebug as you recommended. I am not certain if this is a big find but I found this on all the Joomla pre-packaged templates. I made a change as outlined in the enclosed file and it made much better but, I am still having minor issues with the form text form that surrounds every field on the registration form, which is not following the format of the page form that encloses the registration. I am not certain on what I am looking at but I am making progress with your help.

Sorry, don't understand the issue. Please provide a screenshot of this specific issue. Nothing should surround a field unless you're referring to the fields label or its icons.
