[SOLVED] CB will not allow me to hide fields from logged in users

9 years 11 months ago - 9 years 11 months ago #253258 by nnakabonge
Here is my original question via ticket:
>> 1. The "public only" view does not work on my website and I am using joomla 3.3.6.
>> Basically, even though I have set access levels to public only (even tried creating new groups and new access levels), the 'Register' and 'Login' pages still show up after a user has logged in
>> When I set it to public only, it appears to work as the fields disappear but once I log out and log back in the fields that should not be seen by logged in users are back again.

And here is the response I received on my ticket:
"I have no idea what you mean by "public only" access level and how this relates to Community Builder.
Community Builder profiles can be initially set for Public viewing from the Community Builder -> User Profile tab -> Profile View Access level parameter.
Also, Community Builder tabs can be published at different levels."

What I mean by "public only" access level is that logged in users should not be able to see those fields (as they say "Register" and "Login" so should obviously not be seen if a user has logged in). I have used all the tutorials available but the fields that I don't want logged in users to see are still seen by logged in users.

I am thinking that you want to use the Guest group feature of Joomla.

This tutorial should help:

Thank you for the response, but I did try with that and not only does it not work (i.e. logged in users still see the "Register" and "Login" fields), it also doesn't allow the actual public to see the "Register" and "Login" fields. I'm using CB 1.9.1

Please explain what "Register" and "Login" fields are?

I am trying to set up two of my menu items (what I'm calling fields) to only be seen by users that are NOT logged in. I have named those two menu items "Register" and "Login" but what they are called, I think is irrelevant. I only want to know how to set up menu items under a Menu to be visible by non-logged in users only and invisible to Registered or logged in users. Setting up a public only access level and/or a guest access level is not working. I am using CB 1.9.1. and joomla 3.3.6.

What you are describing seems not related to CB at all.

Maybe this will help:
