Can't get Facebook registration to work - CB Connect plugin

CB Connect Version 5.2.2
from CB 1.9.1 Quickstart PRO package

Attached are screenshots of all relevant config screens.


I followed all the instructions in this tutorial (though of course it's changed):

I've double and triple checked. When I try to login via Facebook, it doesn't actually register or login. It logs me into Facebook, but nothing else. Tried it with multiple Facebook user accounts. Tried in different browsers. Triple-checked FB dev settings.

Help please. Ideas?

I just realized that if I'm logged in already via self-registration, and then I hit "Sign in with Facebook," it works.

But I want to use for people to register. That's possible, isn't it? For a first-time visitor to register with the site using their Facebook account?

I just had a problem where it did not work at all. It only went to a blank screen.
The problem was that i am running joomsef with there plugin. i had to exclude cb from using sef and all works well again.
It seems that cb connect did not like the urls produced by joomsef with native joomla sef control it would start to go to facebook but then hang.
Turn on error reporting to the max and you will see the error.

Thanks rskolnick, but I'm not seeing any errors. The user gets logged into Facebook, but is returned to my page without registering as a new user.

Just a thought.. Go to FaceBook and change your OAUTH to only fullprofile. nothing else save and wait about 15 minutes.
See if that works..

CB Connect does not work for your version of CB anymore. Facebook changed their API and broke it. You need CB 2.x and latest CB Connect 6.0.4. CB Connect is just one of those plugins that has to always be up to date or you're going to reach points where it doesn't function as it heavily depends on 3rd party social site APIs.

As another note always be sure to do your testing with default Joomla template then with debug mode and maximum error reporting enabled in Joomla global configuration so you can see error output.

Thanks for the reply, krileon. I have to say, that's frustrating to hear, since we used the quickstart Pro package in just the last few weeks. That means the quickstart Pro package is being sold with out-of-date materials.

What is the easiest course for us to upgrade our quickstart pro package to CB 2.x? Are there any links you can recommend? Any pitfalls to upgrading our quickstart pro package?
