I have Joomla 3.4.1 installed and configured for SMTP/SSL email.
I have CB 2.0.7

Confirmation emails are being sent correctly, however even though HTML method is selected in CB, all HML coding in the standard CB email is stripped out. I can add HTML coding in the form and simple coding like <br> will be sent, allowing me to somewhat style the email, however all links are stripped.

Seams to be working ok in my tests. Ensure the parameters have actually saved. Set "Registration Email HTML" to "Yes" within CB > Configuration > Registration. Click "Save" then navigate back to configuration to ensure it correctly saved as "Yes". Now your Pending and Welcome emails should allow HTML. To confirm HTML is working through your mail server at all try sending a mass mailer to your self by navigating to CB > User Management and checking your users checkbox then click Mass Mailer and supply a message body with valid HTML. The stripping could also be a part of the WYSIWYG editor; try using a different editor like TinyMCE if using JCE.

Hello,

I have the same problem with HTML mails at YOUR_REGISTRATION_IS_PENDING_APPROVAL_MESSAGE.
I have Joomla 3.4.1 and CB 2.0.7, after registration the mail is created, but without HTML tags. With the mass mail function it runs (mails are correct created with all HTML tags). Also the information mail to the admin ist correct created.
Can you please help. Thank you.

Here is what I found out and solved this problem for myself:

Select NO for Registration Email HTML (the default)

You cannot use HTML markup like <p></p> or <br /> in the email but you can use \r\n to achieve the same results. I found this by looking in the default/language.php file for the YOUR_REGISTRATION_IS_PENDING_APPROVAL_MESSAGE message.

Hope this helps as I spend about 6 hours trying to figure out why it didn't work on my install.

My guess is there is some sort of issue in your servers configuration. I've no idea why it's not specifically working for you, but I am able to send Pending and Welcome emails with HTML perfectly fine. It could also be an issue of your mail server stripping the HTML when you receive the email (some have a button to enable HTML for example).

Hi Kyle:

I had thought similarly. The issue was that having selected HTML - Yes, the new users email came stripped of all markup ( links, line-breaks and carriage returns ) BUT the admin new user notification came through correctly formatted with links intact.

Switching the Registration Email HTML - No solved the issue and now both new user emails come through formatted with links.
