The only way to have tabs in a dropdown is to use the nested tabs display with a toolbar display. That's how the dropdown to the right of the Forums tab functions. Best I can suggest is move the groups tab to the Canvas Main Middle position and set it to display as nested tab menu so it'll add to that dropdown. Please also see the recently released CB 2.0 primer book as it details tab display and position usage further. Is this possible? Could someone tell me how to do this, or point me to where the documentation to do this might be found? CB is a big system and I'm a bit lost, so sorry if I should have been able to find this info.
The only thing you'd need to worry about is GJ Events is bugged, but you can find a patched release of GJ Events below.BTW I'm using CB2 which (according to error messages from GJ is not compatible). How worried should I be? Would you suggest I downgrade to CB1.9? Can I use this configuration on a live site?

Do you mean the part above the groups content? That's not controlled by Joomla. To add new menu items to that you need to modify GJs template directly or create a new CB plugin to output a new menu item by acting on GJs menu trigger (CB Auto Actions maybe able to do this with Code action, untested). GJs template files can be found below. So question one: How can I access the functions that the GJ menu tab seems to offer?
Under the Users tab of your groups you can approve users wanting to join.Question two: How do I approve an attempt to join the group? I can't find anyway to do this.
GJ has not been upgraded yet so creating Joomla menu items to its various pages is frustrating to say the least. You need to navigate to GJ > Menus. Once there click the checkboxes of the menu items you want. Now click "Create" on the toolbar. This will generate Joomla menu items to GJs pages under the new CB GroupJive menutype. You can now move them to wherever you want.Question three: How can I produce a list of groups and attach it to a menu? My users are not digital natives. They will not be able to find groups if they have to go via categories. I need a list of groups that they can choose from and then join. Is this possible? If so how?
Yup, that's why it's going to be completely rewritten after the next release. First is an upgrade release. Next will be a complete rewrite from the ground up (and a name change as GroupJive keeps confusing people thinking it's for ACL).The potential of GJ is wonderful. But I'm finding it difficult to create a logical and easy interface for my potential users.

Then the menu creation probably doesn't work anymore. You'll need to create External Joomla menu items to GJ URLs beginning with index.php then. Creating Internal Joomla menu items to GJ will be fixed in the upgrade. On my installation there is no 'create' button that I can see. There's a 'save' button that if I press creates a header for the menu item in the Joomla menu system, but as stated above there's no way to connect the header to any functionality.
The current planned new name is CB Communities. A lot of big changes are planned for the rewrite. For example categories and nesting are all going away. Categorization will be done by a Tagged system. The integrations are to be merged into the core and much more. The rewrite won't be for awhile though so nothing to worry about for now (it'll also migrate GJ so there's no concern for data loss of any kind). As an aside I like the name GroupJive. I personally can't see the connection to ACL.
