been a long time subscriber and I am using cbsubs on an older joomla site without much issue in the past couple years, everything works as expected.

due to some ddos attacks on our USA based servers, we have had to filter traffic on our firewall to allow only USA and canada traffic and now we are getting hundreds of these messages a day.

"License server could not be reached. Please check that you have Internet connection (connectivity, firewall settings) or try again in half hour. Error:

Please log into administrator area and check the plugin settings."

my questions are:

1. what country is the license server based in so I can maybe add it to the filter.
currently we explicitly refuse traffic on several ports from Turkey, Romania, RF, and Switzerland specifically due to the attack methods used.

2. how can we disable this function? we have a lifetime license for cbsubs so checking in with the mothership dozens of times shouldn't be necc every hour.

You should really update to at least CBSubs GPL 3.0.

(If you have CB 2.0.9 you should upgrade to CBSubs GPL 4.0).

The GPL product can be installed over your existing environment and all your settings will be kept.

The result is that you have non encrypted source code that does not need ioncube and also does not need to connect to license server any more.

Contact me via PM and I will help you with your CBSubs GPL migration cost.

not possible in any capacity.

no funding, the site is a solid joomla 1.5 platform that has been heavily modified and has reached EOL this year in December.

upgrading is 110% out of the question.

I need to stop these messages, immediately.
over 1100 since my last post.

Our servers are located in Switzerland. And for the records, Switzerland is not a hackers country. :-D

every country is a hackers country, some just more than others.

I could show you hundreds of logged attacks from hackers in Switzerland/CH
That is the reason our organization decided to block the country from access.

We were bruted for days by a few dozen Swiss ip's.

could be spoofing, could be genuine, no way to tell easily ...better to just block access until the attacks are over.

thanks for the info.

Sorry to what happened to your server.

I'm not going to comment on these statements, nor on the way you are protecting manually your hosts, sorry. Botnets are installed in masses in all countries. Just want to mention that efficient automated targeted blocking solutions (adaptative firewalls, that block individual IPs, instead of entire countries), such as CSF, do exist.
