Very dissapointing product

It will be a miracle when/if GJ events ever comes to fruition. I purchased advanced membership, upgrading soon after to Pro. I had hoped to use the additional addons etc to compliment 2.0's Group Jive, focussing on events as the absolute central core to my sites functionalities. 2.0 had been announced as working so I took the plunge into CB after looking at CB's competitors. Last count, I let four websites simply expire, cancelled a further four webhosting servers and Komodo certificates as well as other third party software purchased to integrate with CB.

With constant promises from Kyle that GJ will soon be entirely functional, his once or twice threatening to abandon GJ if people persisted asking when it would be 100% compatible with CB 2.0 to be replaced with done when its done, my extreme patience has been tested and pretty much exhausted. I am, putting it very mildly and politely my experience with CB has been one of great anticipation of an entirely 100% fully functional, fully compatible CB2.0 dumped on by a product that barely functioned as 2.0 for several months and is yet to be still what any reasonable product should be, functional. Glitches are always to be expected in any post 1998 software, but this is beyond a joke.

It is dubious that I will renew my CB membership and will most likely start over with a different social networking platform.

I feel your pain, must be tough. I too am waiting for Groupjive 3.0, it is close I reckon, must be their next big announcement in my opinion. The forge is progressing nicely. Personally I'd hang in there based on my complete satisfaction with CB and I must be only using a small percentage of its power. Just signed up for another 13 months without hesitation in fact.

CB Activity forge has some nice features coming and GJ will be very good I'd say. XML backend stuff is happening, not sure what that means exactly. You seem over reliant on what is currently a not very good GJ for CB 2.0+ anyway. These guys are winners and the products are getting very modern. Just my opinion and thoughts for you. Goodluck with it in any case.

It is the last thing left that has not been totally rewritten for full CB 2.0 compatibility.

Kyle has been progressing and will give a status report when he is ready to do so.

I don't know where I threatened to abandon GJ? That was never the case and never will be the case. The original plan was as follows.

1. Upgrade for CB 2.x compatibility as GJ 2.8
2. Rewrite to CB Communities

I'm guessing the CB Communities rewrite may have been confused with abandoning it? It then changed to the following.

1. Upgrade for CB 2.x compatibility as GJ 2.8
2. Rewrite to GJ 3.0

Now it's as follows.

1. Rewrite to GJ 3.0

I've already completely rewritten GJ core. I've already rewritten GJ About integration. I'm about half way through rewriting GJ Events integration.

If you're that reliant on GJ I can't understand why you upgraded to CB 2.x. GJ works perfectly fine on CB 1.x and continues to do so. If it's absolutely vital to your site then do not upgrade your site.

Group Events isn't done yet though. I've only just yesterday started redoing its tab. So the above is a work in progress. Note categories don't have to be used either. It's now possible to use GJ without them. There's an All Groups page, Joined Groups page, Invited Groups page, My Groups page, etc..

Today I spent most of the day writing a new Date class for CBLib so we can finally have more translatable dates, which was needed for GJ Events.
