I am building a community website which initially will be free access to all however I would like to also integrate a business directory which will should allow free + paid access (initially free and then paid). Not sure if I will have to start using CB Subs or not however the question now is which extension you recommend for that kind of usage? I prefer the ones that have some sort of integration with CB since all the registration will be done via CB.

Thank you

No experience with directory extensions.
I am aware of mostrees and sobi, but there might be others on the JED.

You could use CBSubs to protect URL-parts access to an extension, but I have not tested this against these directory extensions.

You might also investigate if one of the directory extensions has its own paid access support system.

Hello all,

I have an update on this.
I installed JBusiness Directory (commercial) and I am facing the following problem (so far):

In the subscribe section (assuming that you want to select a package from the packages you create) it has a link for login/register. Although my site has disabled registrations from Joomla, that link works and registers you as a normal Joomla user. From that point onward the user exists on Joomla, but not on CB Users section.

Any tips if I am doing something wrong and possibly how can this be alleviated?
Note that the registration process has a form with 3 steps, with progress bar, user registration and 'Listing info' which is the point where you create a listing to be approved by the admin.

Although at this point I want to provide free access to everyone on my site (usage of everything for free), if the site becomes popular then I would like to introduce paid access (to some features of the site). For that I am thinking of using CB Subs however if CB is not able to control JBusiness directory then I have a problem... :(

Please advise.

Thank you

Thanks for posting your feedback and experience with this third party extension.

Please note that I have zero experience with this extesion (first time I have ever heard of it).

Ask them if they have CB integration built-in (e.g., clicking on user links takes you back to CB profile page of user) and if things will work with CB Login module.

I am guessing this extention has its own login module or you are using the Joomla login module and this is causing your user sync to break.

It also sounds like it has its own built-in payment support for some sort of paid privileges.

CBSubs has no built-in integration for this extension, but depending on what you want you could use the CBSubs URL parts protectin to block access to various extension URLs that could give you the end result you need.

Other than this feedback there is not much more I can give here.

The matter has been complicated even further as I discovered unpleasant surprises.
They basically sold me something (template + quickstart) which I cannot install from scratch to a new site.
The quickstart package contains 3rd party component which they did not include in the template! The template contains a newer version of that 3rd party component, which is limited in features compared to the component that is included in the quickstart package....
The 'full version' of that new component is (you guessed it...) something EXTRA which I have to buy (from the 3rd party) and they refused to provide me it's earlier version.
A mess in other words...

Anyway, I have a question about CB Subs. As I don't have it, can you please tell me if CB Subs is capable of providing layered access to various components which do have plugins for CB? For example, can I sell a subscription which allows free access to Kunena and K2, but at the same time the user must have paid subscription to access a Business Directory component in order to submit a business listing?
