Hi, I set the search criteria of the user list on "any of " and " ranges ", but now the radio button fields have become checkbox fields ( see the attached file )
It's working exactly how you've specified. You can't do an "any of" selection on a radio as you can only ever select 1 radio. It converts it to a checkbox so "any of" applies to radios as well.

You can't, the "Simple Any" changes them to radios so you can search all users that have any of the following values for example. I suppose you could set searching to Advanced and let the user decide their usage though (exact or any).

the advanced searching is not user friendly, the right thing for me is "any of" and "ranges" search criteria, but without a field type changing from radio to checkbox
There's no option for that, because it doesn't make sense. You want "Simple Any" mode, but with radios staying as "Simple Exact". Radio fields change to checkbox so you can match users who have different values. So if I have Value 1 and Value 2 and there are 3 users with Value 1 selected while 1 user has Value 2 selected I can select both since they're checkboxs and all 4 users should display. We have no option for what you're wanting, sorry.
