Restrict Fields

Hi,
I was reading the manual on how to restrict fields and have a question.

I have two types of memberships: 1 - lifetime free
2 - 5.00 per month

Everyone will have to choose one or the other.

I want to restrict some fields for the free user: example : forum board signature
avatar upload

When I choose the "integration" I select the "Your Forum Board Signature" field and choose "Set:Field=Value"
Value: 0

Maybe I missed this in the manual, but I just assumed that "0" would turn the field off in CB but it isn't.

I was also curious if it were possible to set the forum rank automatically when the subscription was set.


Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

To protect fields with CBSubs plans you need to use CBSubs Fields Tabs Protection. Please see your documentation for details as usecase examples are provided. For registration you set what fields you want to hide in your plan on the workflows tab.

Thanks for the reply. I didnt see a usecase that restricts a "text box" field.

I want to have the "free plan" restrict/not allow the user to update their kunena forum signature.

I also tried to update the "Forum Rank" , but when I tried to sign up to the plan it produced an SQL error.

You need to have CBSubs Fields Tabs Protection installed, edit your text field, and protect it with a plan. See CBSubs documentation for further usage information.

Perhaps I'm not understanding. I have the CBSubs Fields Protection plugin installed. It is published.

This is my current setup:
1 Free Lifetime Membership with no other membership

I want to restrict the forum signature field/Upload Avatar from even showing up in the tab at all but allow the user to use the other forum options. Later down the road I will create a second membership that will allow the use of the forum signature/avatar upload fields.

From what I've been reading and other forum sources, I am not sure if this setup will work unless I have another Subscription Plan available for the members to choose.

Do you have to have two separate memberships in order to restrict tabs?

In your current situation just disable those fields as you don't have a plan setup yet to hide them. When you do use CBSubs Fields Tabs Protection to protect those fields by your new plan.

No, but you can't protect something with a plan that doesn't even exist. Simply disable that something or create a plan for you to protect it with. All protection grants access, it does not take it away, so you need a plan to protect the field or just disable it within Field Management.

Note it's a system field so disabling it by the enable/disable parameter won't work. Simply move the fields to a disabled tab or use CB Privacy to disable their edit profile display (best approach).
