I have installed and worked with CB but just basically to control registered users access to joomla content. Now I have a web site that I have purchased and installed CB subs to handle all of my sites subscriptions for membership.
I am however having difficulty trying to decide how this all works together. My site will take subscriptions on a yearly basis and send a newsletter to ONLY registered members. I may add content specific to only registered users in the future but this is my starting point.
So my question is...do I need a CB login module set up in joomla? I suspect the answer is no as I do not have anything to provide them to see once they log in. However, I am not sure if i need that CB login setup to use CB subs.
OR can I leave the CB login disabled and just use the CB subs to take memberships and then somehow control the distribution of those newsletters to registered members?
If you don't allow users to login, register, or access frontend then they've no way of purchasing a subscription. If you give them subscriptions manually from backend then it bypasses payment process and you won't have a way of letting CBSubs handle the subscriptions automatically. CBSubs requires a user to be registered to make a purchase.
You can use the CBSubs AcyMailing integration combined with the AcyMailing extension to subscribe users to yearly newsletters then it can remove them when their subscription deactivates.
