Dear all,

I have imported the users from the old site including the correct address. In Joomla itself, it is shown correct. But as soon as I use the "user syncronize function, the address fields are empty. Any clue, where I can check, what is going wrong here?

Thanks in Advance

Iris

Synchronize User just synchronizes core Joomla user data to CB it does nothing more than that. It won't synchronize custom fields or anything of the sort. It's primarily to fix issues like creating a user in Joomla user management instead of in CB. If they already exist in CB you're no need to use that tool.

Hi,
ok, let me try to explain, what I am trying to do. I have implemented all users from the old side to the new one within joomla. Everything was working fine so far. Than I have synchronized the users within CB. Everything was fine to so far. But some fields are missing, like all "address" information fields from joomla user management. Next, I have tried, was to use the implement function within CB. Even with a non existing user, it did nothing. I didn't even receive an error message. I have tried with the option create new entries, without the ID's and I also tried with an existing ID. Both didn't work.

If I could import the missing fields by importing the user in CB, it would solve all my problems.

Thanks in Advance

Iris

You can, using the import feature in CB > User Management. Export 1 user first so you've a properly formatted CSV file. Then add your user rows to it. Then during input set the dropdown to "Overwrite existing entries with records matching ids". That allows updating existing entries during import.

You can also just import that information using the database. CB users are stored in _comprofiler so you can use whatever SQL you need to import data from other tables.

Alternatively you can just keep using those Joomla fields. Within CB > Field Management create a new field with a fieldtype of Joomla and select the Joomla field to use.

I have tried it, but in CB I can not combine fields with the joomla fields. Maybe I am blind, but CB is always putting cb_ infront of a new created field.
I have also tried with csv files, this isn't working. xml would work, but to add for 700 users the missing fields in xml would take me ages.
So a nice step-to-step instruction would be really helpful.

The Joomla field has to be a field you created in Joomla user management. We can't load fields added by 3rd party plugins. There's no real instructions to provide here. Navigate to CB > User Management, click 1 row, export it as CSV, and now you've the structure of data that we're able to synchronize. Add your users to it matching by id up properly and set the dropdown to override existing rows. That's all there is to it.

You keep saying it doesn't work, but in what way? Is there an error? We catch all errors and report what rows error and why so if the import fails it should tell you why. You can even exclude most fields for an update import, but user ids must match up. For example the below CSV would update just the supplied fields. If the user doesn't exist it'll error.

id,cb_country,cb_state
32,US,CA

This would set cb_country to US and cb_state to CA for user with an ID of 32. I've just now re-confirmed that this behavior works.
