I am in the middle of migrating our site from J1.5 to J3.2 and taking the opportunity to implement some much needed improvements.

The main function of the site is to deliver e-learning. What I want to do is use CB to enhance the formal learning undertaken via the learning management system (JoomlaLMS) by reflecting members' activity in CB and also by using CB to promote informal learning (e.g. blogs, discussions, forum participation etc).

I am aware of plugins like jComments and jReviews, which are both integrated with the LMS and CB. However I would value the opinions of developers here whom I am sure have been through this already. What have been your experiences and do you have any recommendations please?

TIA

Andrew

I've used jComments strictly for Joomla article comments and it always performed well. I've never used jReviews. For forums I recommend Kunena as it's the only forum extension CB integrates with. For blogs I recommend CB Blogs, which integrates with Joomla articles, K2 articles, or its own internal database.

Thanks Kyle.

Incidentally have you any experience with Fabrik? I ask because the LMS needs extending. For example course completion certificates have a specified number of hours but this is not stored in the course tables. I would like to add a tab in the CB profile that totals the number of hours completed in a specific time period.

Fabrik looks very good, but I do not know if there are other native CB tools that can do this too (the AHA?Wow! engine perhaps?).

I've no experience with Fabrik, sorry. The XML engine is backend only for now, but will be frontend as well in CB 2.1. Maybe contact the developers of LMS and see if they can get what you need implemented or have an alternative suggestion on how to get what you need?
