Yes, that's possible. The login page uses the first CB login module available. It checks for view access level, language, and orders by the module position and ordering. What this means is your first login module available with no position specified or with a position ordered before all other positions, but isn't displayed, should have no login redirect specified. You'd then create a second login module to put at the top of your page with a login redirect specified. That should ensure access denied pages can send users back to their previous location.
