It seems the latest CBsubs doc is version 4.1.0 from 30.Sept.2016...

I am looking at Page 439: "Private Message
Specifies that the mailer task should produce private messages (needs
third-party PMS extension – uddeIM recommended)"

Since uddeIM is long since deprecated, can you provide some updated documentation on this functionality?

The API for sending private messages is unchanged. So you don't need UddeIM to send PMs with CBSubs Mailer now, but it will still work with UddeIM if you're still using it. We've been waiting for Joomla 4 to provide new documentation for CB and CBSubs so we won't have to just redo it again after redoing it. We're also a extremely small team so it's hard to find time between support and coding to write documentation.
