Hi,

Please see enclosed the setting in the plugin of the messaging.

Can I set up a tab with fields, by which the user decides for his own, whether he wants sending the notice about new messages and connections by e-mail, with or without the content?

Create a checkbox field then within Private Message System > Parameters > Internal > Notifications set "Notify" to "Field" then for "Notify Field" select your checkbox field. If that field is checked they'll be notified. If it's unchecked they won't be notified.
