did you implement this fix into the latest build release ?
I had issues with hcaptcha and turnstile and even internal code failing.

Edit : after today upgrade of the plugins it seems to work again

Yes, a fix was implemented to prevent the duplicate verification of hCaptcha and Turnstile, which sometimes could cause a token to invalid before sending to server.

It seems like the issue is lying when the timer is activated at the same time that another method is chosen.

Even with a 2 sec timer, it still blocks all other valid captcha methods.

I have deactivated the timer and all seems to work fine now

Was the Timer an issue for all forms or just forgot login?

Nope the timer was the issue for all captcha on the register form.
It worked correctly on the forgot login

Strange, will look into this further as it was working during all initial testing. My best guess is something might be interfering with the hidden input it outputs.
