Hello...
On our site we publish articles on a daily basis. These articles are available to subscribed with cb subs members that have a certain usergroup for as long as their subscription is active.

For each new published article, an activity stream item is created. This activity stream must be visible also to public users. because this is the best teaser for them to guide them to subscribe and pay so that they are able to view the whole article.

So the question is this...
If an article is set to be viewed only from registered usergroup, can the particular article's activity post be visible in public?

This is how it used to be with the old cb activity, but now we are not able to make it work like this.

Thank you.

That was a bug. Access to the article and category it belongs to is properly verified now.

For what you're trying to do you should set the article and its category as public access. Next just let CBSubs handle the access checks. That should then allow it to display in CB Activity.

Thank you for your reply Krileon.

This can not be done because there are about 3500 articles that can be viewed only by paid members. It will be a disaster if the unpaid users have to go back 3500 articles (redirected for each one to pay) till they find an article to read.
Anyway... we forget this as this can not be done.

As an alternative... can we manualy create a teaser for each new article on the cb activity stream that will only be visible to guest users?

Thank you

I'm not sure I understand then. Aren't you already creating an activity entry per article?

As an alternative... can we manualy create a teaser for each new article on the cb activity stream that will only be visible to guest users?

Individual activity entries don't have access permissions beyond those derived from their asset (e.g. article.ID access is determined by the article).

I would recommend creating an entirely separate stream in CB Activity > Streams > Activity that includes the features and assets to display specifically for guests. Then setup your menu items so that guests see one menu item while logged in see another. This gives 2 separate streams with 2 different feature sets. Then on that separate stream post whatever teaser posts you like and they'd only be for guests.
