No.

And here's why -- as has been explained before.

The plugin relies on changes made to the core that will be released with the stable version.

That's why you have to wait.

If mambojoe released it to you as a zip, it wouldn't work.

Isn't it released with 1.0 (stable)? I haven't installed 1.0 Stable so far, but it shoud be?!?
