Profiles having easy to remember URL...

Hmm, that article / howto is too confusing for me... I'll try to see if I can figure it out. But it would be nice if there was complete & easy instructions on how to do it. Sorry for the complaining. No need to respond, I'm not too worried about it, but it would be nice.

it can't get much easier than my howto.. sometimes you just have to follow instructions to the letter and 'just do it'..

It amazes me noone has answers here. I mean, if there were a more definate, definitive answer there would be WAY less frequent posts asking the same question repeatedly, ya know?

I have mine working, though it is not a short URL:
website.com/mycbprofilepage/userprofile/username

It's readable, yes, but easy? No. I wonder if ANYONE can tell me how to modify this to make it shorter (ie; website.com/username)???

This question is asked SO many times, who can FIND the answer unless they spend ALOT of time DEVOTED to finding an answer, IF it is even there since it's asked ALL THE TIME.

For shame all of us brainier geekoids cannot make this self-spamming a thing of the past and get people the REAL answer by posting a simple link to it whenevr anyone asks!

Well, you can shorten profile URLs with a SEF component like Artio JomSEF or sh404SEF. Whit these components it is possible to get short URLs like www.website.com/username

I stopped using them, because there are many incompatibilities with other components, like Virtuemart, and a self coded component. But if you only have a userarea, maybe a forum and some articles, then Artio JomSEF is a good solution.
