Google Map Plugin was created by dhpollack
I've created a new CB plugin that geocodes a users location and I've modified my Google Maps component to map out these locations. Right now the geocoder plugin is rough on the edges, but it works. A couple quick tips before using it.

1. The country field expects the two letter abbreviation of the country. Most large countries are pretty obvious.

2. International geocoding is not nearly as good as the US geocoding.

3. The manual geocode field does not work. I'm not quite sure why not, but hopefully someone here will be able to help me out with that.

That's really cool. Congratulations.

Now just looking forward for Google to discover Europe... :D

Beat could you tell me why the manual geocode field doesn't work in the XML file?

I officially released this on the Joomla site, and tried to put a post in the 3PD Accouncements forum, but apparently I'm still an illegal alien. If you guys want to post the plugin on your site it's at:
developer.joomla.org/sf/sfmain/do/viewProject/projects.google_maps

Hopefully there will be an update soon to support manual geocoding.

I really like the illegal alien phrase - it's in line with the entire Joomlapolis concept B)

In reference to your 'citizenship' status as explained in the www.joomlapolis.com/content/view/177/37/ article you should take some actions to initiate the process. I have already updated your status so you should be able to post to the 3PD announcement section. You can also upload your CB plugin to the downloads area (just send me a note to approve it). Also please take all other actions stated in the article (signature, blog, etc).

Thank you for sharing this.

As you can see by my pic I am a newb. I got this thing to show up in a tab. What do I do now. I see that you said the manual entering doesn't work. What do I do with it? In the admin there are fields for address, state and so on. How is each user supposed to update his position?
