Choose random avatar for users? Good idea?

I was thinking about writing a little module that would choose a random avatar for users who haven't uploaded their own avatar. Basically, you'd upload a bunch of images...then the module would go through the user list and say, "Hmmmm...this user hasn't uploaded their own avatar and it's been a week...so...let's give them a random one."

The images would be neutral subjects, like dogs, cats, things like that.

Good idea or not?

My feeling is that if users won't take time to upload an avatar of themselves, the webmaster is entitled to give them one. Otherwise, the "no avatar thumbnail" shows up in searches and distracts from the aesthetics of the site.

Along the same line with your post, I would like to know if anyone has done any hacking of CB so it allows users to keep & rotate between multiple avatars.

Avatar rotation can be either random or ordered.

I'd also be very interested in this. Anyone figured it out yet?
