captcha not showing images

Any fix for this? I just installed a clean version of Joomla 1.0.13, lasted version of Community Builder, and Captcha. I get a red X for the image.
I created the phpinfo.php file and it reports:
FreeType Support enabled
FreeType Linkage with freetype
I have performed the steps in post www.joomlapolis.com/component/option,com_joomlaboard/func,view/catid,13/id,38019/ , but that didn't work either.
Any other fixes?

Did you try version 2.0?
You can download it from the subscriptions area (BTW thank you for your support).

Yes - it's v 2.0

I have tried several of the solutions/hacks listed in these forums and none appear to have the desired effect.

I also got the code to appear by using the hack mentioned in another thread but no joy with the prog accepting the entered code, I'm afraid.

I also ploughed thru the thread marked 'solved' and tried the Notepad++ solution but that was not a starter either.

Shame, really as I am quite hyped about using CB captcha on my site.
