change field type from text to select was created by Richardkl

I would like to change the field type from text to select . this is for state as I have found the people abbreviate states differently. With out losing the data the in in the records. I will fix all the wrong abbreviations before the change.

Unfortunately, changing field types is not possible. You need to create the new field (I suggest a dropdown menu) and carry over the data to the new field. This is quite possible using a SQL query in your database.
