Can't Install on Joomla 1.6.2

I'm tring to instal CB on Joomla 1.6.2.

I've a local server on my pc with xampp (apache 2.2.17, php 5.3.5, mysql 5.5.. When I try to install com_comprofiler in the second step of installation I receive or a blank page.

Error reporting is set to "ALL" and max_execution_time to "0" ...

The installation can't go to the end succesfully, in plugin management none plugin is installed. (It's possible to install core plugins separately from main component installation?)

Any ideas?

I've read the readme file and followed instruction step by step.

Sometimes the installation ends with a blank page, sometimes with max execution time reached. In file install.comprofiler.php.

If I set an unlimited max execution time the script returns a blank page.

Blank pages typically mean something breaks the code.

Check your error log (ask your host if you cannot find it) - maybe a memory issue.

I was facing similar troubles between 1.6.2 and CB, one upgrade to 1.6.2 appears fine with CB, another is a nightmare and CB will not run under it, the only difference in the two sites was the template (Effective Solutions vs jooroos), when I changed jooroos to the basic Joomla template all is well with the site but it says CB is not installed. I'm off to try 1.6.3, let you know the results.

I upgraded to 1.6.3, when I tried to install comprofiler the system reports "Component Install: DB function reports no errors", error installing component, CB not installed. Do I need to delete something in one of the tables? Thanks, Mike.
