User profile URL SEF

The SEF URL for the userprofile takes the form : cb-menu-alias/userprofile/username

Our SEF URL looks like this :

www.example.com/specialists/userprofile/name_of_person

The non-SEF version of our URL is :

www.example.com/index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=userprofile&user=967&Itemid=484


The non-SEF version works well. But the SEF version renders a page that does not know it belongs in a section/category. So it loses a menu connection and only display the userprofile.

If I modify the SEF URL by prepending the section name ( "patients" ), like this :

www.example.com/patients/specialists/userprofile/name_of_person

Everything works.

So, can we :

- disable the url rewriting for userprofile links ?
- modify the cbsef ? ( I am assuming that there is a cb sef function that is invoked when the Joomla! SEF options are set to on - or is this bit handled by the Joola core SEF ? )
