Admin Menu Fail 1.6

After searching around and not finding a definitive answer I decided to post up here.

I downloaded the latest 1.6 joomla, the latest 1.4 CB and did a fresh install of each.

Upon installing CB I get an error that the admin menu failed to be created, CB does not show up in the menuing, however it does show in the list of components under extensions:extension manager:manage.

I uninstalled CB and reinstalled to the same effect.

php max_upload_size is set to 16 as recommended.

Here are my joomla specs:

I have seen this before - something failed in your database during the installation process.

Only solution I can propose is to drop database and site and start over.

I have a couple sites I need to get to production in and I decided the Joomla 1.6/CB combo wasnt mature enough to do it with so I went with 1.5/CB instead, which installed like a champ.

Pity too with all the new shiny in 1.6 but once ya do a clean install fail, it kinda makes ya nervous to move on from there..

Yup - Joomla 1.6 is just not mature enough yet.
