I followed steps to upgrade from CB 1.2.3 to CB 1.4 in README-UPGRADE.txt and CB says I am still on 1.2.3 version. Need help to know why.
Using Joomla 1.5
Steps of my install process...
Used DETAILS OF EXPERT UPGRADE section of instructions.

Step a) Yes
Step b) unzip/tar files to folder to use with Filezilla. Used Filezilla to move three folders (administrator, components, modules) to FTP site. No problems here.

Step c) Flowing instructions, I did not find these files in my current install of Joomla 1.5
c) If you installed any CB 1.2 RC release in Joomla 1.5 ONLY:
delete following 3 files:
modules/mod_cblogin/mod_cbloij.xml
modules/mod_comprofilermoderator/mod_comprofilermoderatoj.xml
modules/mod_comprofileronline/mod_comprofileronlij.xml
These three files were not located and not deleted as per instructions???

Step d) OK already
Step e) Done
Step f) OK already
Step g) NA
Step h) NA

Results...
CB still says relaese level is 1.2.3 and not 1.4
Consequently I cannot install Captcha as I get an error saying I need to be at 1.3 minimum.

Any help?

Difficult to help - you can try the process again and see if it works.

Interesting enough I did try it twice before posting here. Were my steps posted the right steps in you opinion. There seemed to be more that one process a user could take to upgrade. I chose the one labeled Expert Upgrade.

No way to know if you tried more than once before you posted ...

Try other method (which is applicable also for your versions):

FOLLOWING APPLIES FOR UPGRADES FROM CB 1.2 releases on Joomla 1.5:

SUMMARY OVERVIEW OF CB UPGRADE ON JOOMLA 1.5 ENVIRONMENT
1) Install new CB component (com_comprofiler.zip) from
your CB 1.4 distribution package.
There is no need to previously uninstall component - code will upgrade
automatically.
2) Install new CB Login module (mod_cblogin.zip package)
from your CB 1.4 distribution package.
3) Install new CB Workflow module (mod_comprofilerModerator.zip package)
from your CB 1.4 distibution package.
4) Install new CB Online module (mod_comprofilerOnline.zip package)
from your CB 1.4 distribution package.
5) Run CB Tool checks on CB database.
6) Done!

Note: This method preserves all installed user plugins and parameters.
Only core code files are updated.
