All links broken after CB install was created by w2learn
Hi,

I downloaded and installed CB1.7 (4 modules) successfully (note1) today, on a Joomla 1.6 site. Now, except for my home-page all the links have stopped working.

I was going to get subscription if CB basics worked, but I'm surprised having to spend a good day and not able to resolve this ;(

Situation
I see the CB login screen (selected position-7), but clicking Register has exactly the same problem as the other links. ALL these links were working correctly, before CB

In IE8, the links/pages never load (indefinitely waiting)
In Firefox (3.6.3), I get "page isnt redirecting properly" (see full msg below)

This is what i've done so far..

- Double checked my install steps in the pdf and the readme.txt (e.g item in user-menu, position-7, disabling J! login etc)
- Read the articles at joomlapolis (eg php settings)
- Tried IE8 is public mode (i.e without any cookie restrictions)
- tried turning off SEF
- Run "check" on all the CB tools -- all are green.
- Confirmed with my hosting provider that permissions, ownership are correct.

Error msg from server logs:
[Sun Sep 18 03:34:26 2011] [error] [client <my home-ip>] File does not exist: /usr/local/apache/htdocs/home8, referer: http://<hostingip>/~<home-dirname>/

addl msg from hosting site support:
It looks like its just a configuration error with the site, rather than having relative links to /file for example your username is included in the url

note1:
I did notice a fleeting msg when installing a couple CB modules, but next "success" msg in green did follow. the msg vanished very quickly to know what it was. i do see the CB module and can modify it and see effects, so didnt think this fleeting msg had any consequcne..regardless mentioned it here.

Full error msg in Firefox:
The page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

* This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept
cookies.

Replied by w2learn on topic Re: All links broken after CB install
A friend helped figure it out. As part of CB install, I had to create .htaccess that previously did not exist. That file had a directive that didnt match our server installation directory.

Below change fixed it.

##
# Uncomment following line if your webserver's URL
# is not directly related to physical file paths.
# Update Your Joomla! Directory (just / for root).
##

RewriteBase /~<our-sub-dir>
