Members on front page and connecting

Hi there

I've just started building my site based on CB - things are going well, but I have a query that I can't find a solution for:1

1. How can I have a list of new members to show up on the front page of my site?
2. Only registered users on my site are allowed to connect with other users... the thing is, how can my users "see" who's on the site (ie. to find a link to click on their profile) in order to connect? Is there a way to also search for users by "skill set", "name" or "background"?

Maybe I didn't ask this question clearly enough, but how are people supposed to find each other using CB to connect with one another?

People find each other by looking at one or more CB User lists.

Thanks Nick - I suppose my question is, how does one create a users list...
