I do need to validate a phone number field and format it to canonical format (for use in iphones, Microsoft applications etc). like +49 (area code)phone no.
Where would I place my changes.
Are the Perl Expressions the way to go or a new plugin?
How are these Perl Expressions different from the preg_match () functions?

The file cb.core.php, is that a file I would touch?
Another wish on the list would be the possibility to export the contact data into .vcf format. I have no idea, if this is an easy or a harder job to do.
Anyone able to write a small component or plugin for that? If I get an estimate, I would offer this to my customer.
