I have a functioning site with an unusual problem.
Symptom: SOME users, after loggin in, when navigating to a https page (but not all https pages) receive an 'You are currently logged in to the private area of this site' error. but they are logged in correctly.
Details. REVISED (after more digging)
0) Joomla v 1.5.8
1) Originally thought this was a login problem, but I have diagnosed it past the login stage.
2) Possibly not a CB problem at all, but I cannot be sure.
3) Finally, I got it to happen on my accounts, but do not know how.
4) Does not happen to most users, but about 5% of the time.
5) Seems to happen most with Apple (Safari or Firefox) or Windows (IE or Firefox) (but rarely with Chrome), but not hard patterns. My test is currently locked on Windows 7, IE 9 and Firefox 8.01
6) I originally thought it had to be a local machine problem, but now my guess is it may have to do with sessions:
a) My test consists of two test user accounts. Both accounts have been used before with no errors.
b) I currently get this error with BOTH accounts on two different machines (within the same IP), Windows 7/IE 9 and Windows 7/Firefox
c) But BOTH accounts work correctly on a machine Windows XP/IE on another IP.
d) Its like my IP and the server side are linked. (I will test a windows 7/IE/outside IP combo tomorrow)
7) Tried the normal 'flush cache, reboot, etc' with no success.
Used the UserID to scan through the joomla tables and found nothing unusual.
9) manually cleared the _sessions table, does not seem to help.
Is there another session mechanism that can be reset or flushed on the server.
Am I correct in assuming that the error 'You are currently logged in to the private area of this site' means, Joomla thinks you are already logged in?
Or does anyone have another idea.
