Installing new CB Template

I've created a new template for CB and I want to install it on my live server. Before it will appear as a choice in CB I have to install it as a plug-in; however, I don't know how to package it as a CB plug-in and I thought I should be able to upload the files to the site and then install from there. However, whenever I try to install from directory, I get an error telling me that it failed and Installation File Not found.

I know I can get it to work if I do a direct insert into the _comprofiler_plugin directory and then use the Configuration | Tools to check the plugin database, but I figure there has to be a better way.

Can someone point me to a How to... on packing up a template as a CB plugin or any other advice on installing a plug-in?

Suggest you download the CB API document from Free download area and study.

CB comes with various preinstalled templates that you can reverse engineer.

they are stored in

components -> com_comprofiler -> plugins -> template

each folder here is a CB template.
