In Windows Live there's this possibility:
when you ask for the password, you get an email with:

Haben Sie eine Kennwortzurücksetzung für Ihr Windows Live-Konto (email@mysite.ch) angefordert?
Wenn Sie diese Kennwortzurücksetzung angefordert haben, wechseln Sie zu folgender Website:
account.live.com/password/resetconfirm?otc=*Cm.........TzHAU6AW9mv8QJ5wuro6A6sjecsYYakbz4xayQniRjA5OrWKtPU*1782P*NCKdo57EDr0$&mn=email%40mysite.ch

Wenn Sie diese Anforderung nicht vorgenommen haben, brechen Sie sie mit diesem Link ab:

So you have two possibilities -> the old password with a link
and a new password, if it's true, that's you who asked for the password.

Perhaps there is a possibility to do like that?
