CB Registration problems

I need help please!
I'm using joomla 1.5.23 with CB 1.7 the Cb login process works fine. But when a new user register the ajax username checker brings back a blank page when disable ajax user checker and email checker the CB registration form can be completed but when click register it brings up a 404 error message component not found error. Is there another registration form that one can use instead?

Please upgrade to latest CB 1.8 - we cannot support older versions of CB as already fixed issues may be causing the problems you are seeing.

I've upgraded joomla 1.5.23 to 1.5.25 and upgraDED CB 1.7 to CB 1.8 I still seem to have a problem woth a new user registration with CB it still goes to a blank page with 404 error mssage:

Not Found

The requested URL /index.php&Itemid= was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
