Unconfirmed users get access and confirmation

Hey guys, have searched quite a bit, if it's here sorry!

Joomla 1.5.15
CB - 1.71
Require admin approval - yes
Require email confirm - yes

We had 2 profiles come in today, register as new users. Wihtout approval on my side, i later noticed they had both logged in. I had not given confirmation or unblocked at all. I do believe the email address's they used were also hacked (assumption). Also the required fields (which there are about 10) were also empty. Somehow they past that, then unblocked and confirmed there own profiles..

Any suggestions please??

Upgrade to CB 1.8 and follow installation and configuration instructions included in CB 1.8 package.
