Some confirmation emails not going through

I'm not sure what information you need to help look at this, but I'm having an intermittent issue. When my users are registering, about a fourth of them are not receiving their confirmation emails. It's random email addresses, they aren't going to their spam folders, and it doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason.

I do know if they go to attempt to login several times and continue to refresh the site, many of them will then get the confirmation email. I figured it's probably just a server/timing thing, but like I said, it doesn't seem to have any consistency. I wouldn't even worry about it since they seem to get it eventually, but many of the users are complaining about the process.

I've already had over 1200 registration requests in the last two days...I really need to fix this.

If it's a random process then obviously its not associated with any code (since that code does not randomly change).

Only suggestion I can give you is to ask your email server provider to investigate for you as this issue is most likely caused there.

I suspect that the details used within the application are not correct. What I would advise you is to check again them and make sure you use the correct credentials ( email account / password ).

I've tried several different email addresses in the Registration settings under configuration. I know site emails are going through because the Joomla contact us page is working properly. I feel like the problem is getting worse...

Suggest you change your joomla email parameters to not use SMTP method.

Yes, that was the second part of the problem. I did remove the SMTP.

Most of the new ones where people are registering are going through, but I have over 300 previous ones that don't seem to go through no matter how many times I hit "Resend Confirmations". Again, they are all various servers...
