Hiding Field but Display in Delimiter

I am making links in the users profile fields so members can add various accounts (twitter, xbox etc) to their profiles

The data is taken from a text field (eg twitter username)
and the link is pieced together using this data in a delimiter field.

if I do not show the initial text field the delimiter doesn't show my link and having the two on the profile is pointless.

how do I hide the initial text field yet still have the delimiter visible and functioning?

figure it out, put in a tab and set the position to not visible on profile (blonde moment)

the next question is kinda a long shot.

eg twitter again. if the user hasn't filled out the twitter text field, is there a way to not display the custom link on the profile?
